Dr. Mark Burnette is currently the Superintendent at Carroll County Public Schools. Dr. Burnette has over 32 years of experience in education, serving as a high school teacher, coach, assistant principal, elementary and middle school principal, Central Office Supervisor, Director, and Assistant Superintendent for Carroll County Public Schools. In addition to earning his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and teaching licensure from Virginia Tech, he is also a graduate of Wytheville Community College, Bluefield State College, and Radford University, where he obtained his M.S. in Educational Leadership. Dr. Burnette also served in the military and worked in industry during the early stages of his career. One of his major initiatives as a division leader is the success of Career and Technical Education programs and developing a school-to-work pipeline for all students. In addition to serving on the GOTEC Advisory Board, he currently serves as the vice-chair of the Crossroads Institute Board of Directors, Carroll County Wellness Center Board of Directors. In addition, he is a member of the Virginia Association of School Superintendents. Dr. Burnette believes in service to others, whether to the children of Virginia, Carroll County, his church, the military, or any of the organizations he serves as a member.
