Angela Brown joined IALR as the director of the Great Opportunities in Technology and Engineering Careers (GO TEC®) program in February 2024. Brown brings over 20 years of experience in education, career and technical and adult education, and workforce development.
In more than 20 years working with Pittsylvania County Schools, Brown’s titles included Agriculture Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal and Director of Career, Technical and Adult Education. In her role as CTE Director, she was committed to the success of the region and state by growing and expanding the Career and Technical Education Programs to meet the demands of industry, implementing new programs such as Precision Machining, Electrical Automation and Robotics, Mechanical Automation and Robotics, Welding, the STEM Academy, Elementary STEM Program, Cybersecurity Systems Technology, and Computer Network Hardware Operations.
Brown holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Radford University and a Bachelor of Science in agriculture from Ferrum College.
Brown has served in numerous leadership roles, including President of the Region VI Career and Technical Education Administrators, Region VI Representative, President-Elect, President, Past President of State Board for VACTEA, and HTEC Council Member. Brown was recognized in New Orleans in December 2021 as one of three finalists in the country for the 2021 Trade and Industrial Education Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition, Brown was named the 2022 Virginia Association of Career and Technical Education Administrator of the Year.
